About Us

We've been community leaders since 1947. Our original mission was to serve individuals affiliated with the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hawthorne. Since then, we've expanded to serve residents of several rural Nevada counties. We're proud of our growth. And proud that you trust us with your financial health.

Service. Commitment. Community involvement.

Here's our history in a nutshell. In 1947, we opened as NAD Hawthorne Federal Credit Union, serving civil service and military personnel attached to the Naval Ammunition Depot. In 1976, we became the state-chartered Hawthorne Credit Union, serving all Mineral County residents. In 1999, the Board of Directors expanded our membership and changed our name to HCU before becoming Financial Horizons in 2003 to reflect a vision of one credit union serving multiple rural counties. Our next key date? Tomorrow. That's when we start working even harder to serve you.

  • Financial Horizons membership is open to individuals who reside or are employed in all Nevada counties (including the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City), excluding Clark County.
  • Membership is also open to Nevada businesses and organizations outside of Clark County, as well as to the immediate families of new and existing members.
  • The governing body of Financial Horizons is the Board of Directors. The terms of its seven directors are staggered so that an approximately equal number of directors are elected each year.
  • The directors are responsible for ensuring that the credit union is being operated in a sound and prudent manner, for hiring the president, for deciding what products and services to offer and to approve major expenditures.

We' also have a history of generosity. Since 1996, our Pennies Count Fund has raised tens of thousands of dollars for worthy local organizations, programs and projects.
